We have lived in Lakewood for 26 years. It has been a great neighborhood to raise our children. Our neighbors are friendly and interact with each other. The lake has many benefits: boating, fishing, jet skiing, kayaking, canoeing and swimming. It is also is a nice view to wake up to in the morning. Riley Elementary is consistently one of the top schools in the Vigo County School Corp. It is also a wonderful place to take a walk or ride a bike. People are aware of pedestrians when they drive through the neighborhood. The lake invites you to the outdoors to grill, to have a picnic in the back yard or sit on the back deck. At night the stars are bright because you are away from the lights of a city.
My name is Angie Jaynes and I have called Lakewood Subdivision my home for almost 17 yrs. My daughter and I started out in our one level home on a quiet cul-de-sac with a big yard for playing and riding bikes. After seven years I married and moved to a newer two story home in Lakewood, closer to the peaceful lake many families enjoy swimming and boating on. We enjoy many evenings out walking our pets, chatting with neighbors and watching children ride their bikes and play in their yards. We have a 5 star school within walking distance that has a welcoming playground, tennis courts and covered shelter. Riley is the perfect mix of country living and just moments away from getting gas, groceries, shopping or a bite to eat. Lakewood subdivision isn't just a neighborhood it's a family that watches out for one another.
The Lakewood Subdivision and the Riley community have many positive amenities to offer to their residents. Riley Elementary School is one of the top-rated academic schools in the corporation. The Riley Recreation League offers baseball opportunities for boys and girls of all ages. The streets of Lakewood offer safe walking and running for fitness enthusiasts. Our residents have easy access to Interstate 70 as well as shopping at the many stores and shops along State Road 46. Lakewood and Riley are stable and friendly communities that maintain property values and provide quality lifestyles for the residents – one of the best areas in Vigo County.
My family has enjoyed living in Lakewood Subdivision for over 30 years. We were able to teach our children how to swim and fish in the lake and now our grandchildren are learning. In addition, we love our Lakewood Community family and feel a special connection to everyone who lives here.
